About 20 representatives of the main parties in the country participated in the Summer School for Integrity and Ethics in Political Parties, which took place from August 24-26, 2023 in Pogradec. This school was organized by the Academy of Political Studies with the support of the Westminster Foundation for Democracy and the British Embassy.
Through intensive training modules and discussions with invited political actors, the aim was to increase knowledge and facilitate cooperation between political activists on the importance of respecting the practices and internal rules of political parties.
The expert Edlira Gjoni, developed a one-day intensive training on leadership oriented by ethics and values, based on the curriculum of the McCain Institute for International Leadership, USA.
A look at the history of the organization of political groups in Albania since the beginning of the 20th century as well as the problems in the structure and ideology of the Albanian parties was presented to the participants by the journalist and publicist Ben Andoni.
The MPs Anila Denaj and Sorina Koti were invited to bring two practical models of the engagement of professionals in politics and to hold a discussion with the participants on the reality as well as the opportunities and challenges for strengthening ethics and integrity in political parties.
The participants appreciated the interplay between the best domestic and international expertise and the presentation of personal examples of engaged politicians as an opportunity to better analyze the issues and identify possible solutions. At the end of the Summer School, a ceremony was held for the certification of the participants.
