SETA Monitoring Report on denunciation mechanisms during electoral campaign

The seventh SETA Monitoring Report of election campaign drafted by the Academy of Political Studies was published today. This report reflects the findings of the monitoring actions regarding the functioning of the denunciation mechanism regarding violations related to the use of public resources and the organization of the election campaign of April 25, 2021.
 
Some findings of the report are listed:
 

  •     135 denunciations regarding the use of state resources, as well other election-related violations were registered as result of functioning of two CEC's mechanisms of signalisation and the online portal near the President of the Republic institution;
  •     The State Election Commissioner has examined and imposed 4 administrative measures and 16 notifications for taking of measures, while rejecting the rest of the denunciations;
  •     The easing of the restrictions imposed by the Electoral Code as part of the normative of the CEC's Regulatory Commission (already denoncued by the SETA reports) provided the ground for the rejections of main denunciations related the PPP contracts and reconstruction investments during the electoral campaign;
  •     To date, CEC has not considered necessary to invest the Prosecution Office in any of its administrative investigations processes, without ascertaining elements of a criminal offense.
