Debating with global analyst Radu Magdin on the EU enlargement policy
Wednesday, October 23, 2019
Alumni and participants of the Albanian School of Political Studies were part of a discussion on "Western Balkans in the European Union: Enlargement Policy at a Crossroads", near the Center for Opening and Dialogue at the Prime Minister's Office. The panelists, the global analyst Mr. Radu Magdin and Albanian expert Mr. Gentian Elezi provided a platform for reflection on the challenges is facing the EU and its enlargement policy to the Western Balkans after last week Emanuel Macron’s veto against the
opening of accession negotiations for Albania and North Macedonia.
The debate aimed to answer such questions:
- Does the Berlin Process provided any positive results for the Western Balkans?
- It is the stability or the democracy the priority for the integration of the Western Balkan countries into the European Union?
- What are the lessons learned from Romania's experience for the integration process?
- What should the Western Balkan countries do and how should they lobby for improving the EU focus for the region?
The debate was organised by the Academy in collaboration with Open Society Foundation Albania and Albanian Center for Competitiveness and International Trade.
