The Academy of Political Studies was one of the participating NGO in the inaugural Energy Community Civil Society Day, held on June 21 in Vienna. The purpose of this meeting, which brought together 24 organizations from 11 countries, was to increase transparency and create a dialogue with civil society on energy and environmental issues. Under the support of GIZ, ASP is included along with the Political Schools in the region in the process of dialogue facilitation for energy efficiency legislation and the creation of a proper terrain to implement the measures and obligations which derivate from this legislation.

The director of the Energy Community, Mr. Jonez Kopac, praised the role of schools and other organizations present in the dialogue between the different actors of the society and engaging the public in their respective countries by creating a positive pressure on legislators and policy makers.

Civil society participants highlighted the need to ensure greater public participation in the Energy Community’s work as well as national energy reform processes. The Energy Community Civil Society Day will be organised on an annual basis.
